On a very humid day, 95F , 3 o’clock PM when the pavements create a very unique heat, and people stop noticing each other, walking with great speed yet with lazy awareness on 23rd Street and 6th Avenue in Manhattan, my friend Marilys and I talked about lost values of our culture. Marilys, whose company created this website with utmost integrity and devotion, asked me what did I think had happened to the Ethical Discipline, good manners, and to a pure sense of beauty in life.
In the heat, beaming from the underneath of New York, in a self absorbed trance, people passed us, and walked through us without ever saying” Excuse me”; tired people, lost among their shopping bags and ice coffee ….
It is a very good day to practice basic human skills, as kindness and elegance, this day of extreme heat in Manhattan. So, we continued our conversation….and here are few thoughts; please consider them and see what they mean to YOU:
Are you satisfied with a good, simple, emotionally rich and self sufficient life style?
Knowing when to have enough – do you shop when you “need,” or when you “want”?
If you like living in luxury – do you know how to share it wisely?
Are you living your life in the most truthful way, truthful to yourself, and expressing yourself freely, within the highest ethical and moral standards, without causing fear, suspicion or anxiety in others?
Do you feel content, and are you in genuine inner peace?
Is your life based on wisdom of “being in one with environment”?
Can you avoid being absent from feelings – and, on the extreme being easily overwhelmed?
Do you have a deep sense of truth, bliss, and calm, as it is said in Zen :” Feeling as safe as a baby sleeping next to the mother’s bosom?”
Feel free to contact me.
Thank YOU very much.
